ABOUT HYROX

The World Series of Fitness Racing. An innovative, holistic approach to fitness including running and natural movements combined.

Participants from all around the world compete in the exact same format. The race starts with a 1 km run, followed by 1 functional movement, which repeats 8 times, taking place in large indoor venues, creating a unique stadium like atmosphere for all participants.

10 divisions separated by weights and reps schemes, subcategorised by age.

A timed, competitive, race with comparable world wide rankings – not just for the elite but for everybody!

ROOTS OF HYROX

Created by one of the most experienced and successful mass participation race event organizers in the world, Christian Toetzke. He experimented with combining short runs, rows and SkiErgs – each around 1km in length – with high-rep functional exercises, such as farmer’s walks, sled pulls and sandbag lunges. What he landed on was a new event to test strength, stamina and mental fortitude. HYROX was born.

HYROX is a measurable, judge-able gym challenge easily turned into a competition. From the first events in 2018, HYROX now has partner gyms and operates in eight countries, including the UK and the US.

HYROX bridges the gap between traditional endurance events with functional fitness, to create a race format for Every Body.

MASS PARTICIPATION

Hyrox is truly accessible: with 4 different racing categories to choose from, HYROX is for everyone no matter the fitness level:

Open – take on the standard HYROX for a challenging but achievable race for everyone.

Pro – for the experienced racer, heavier weights make for a more challenging experience.

Doubles – find a partner and take on the challenge as a pair, running together but splitting the workload of the exercises.

Relay – come together with your friends or family and race the relay where each member of the team does 2 times 1 km and 2 workouts.

LEARN THE MOVEMENT STANDARDS

It is important to familiarise yourself with the HYROX movement standards so that you train the exercises in the right manner to avoid potential injuries and perform with efficiency.

Experiment in our gym with your Certified HYROX Coach with various techniques that can be applied and find the one that works best for you.

50% IS RUNNING

Some love it, others rather not think about it! A HYROX race consists of 8 kilometres of running, split into 8 times 1 kilometre. Running should feature in your training for that cardio base, as you will be out for an average of 90 minutes. 

It is also important to experience running after working the legs and arms, so we will simulate that race experience.  Ever wondered how you run after pushing a 125kg sled for 50 metres? Or after your heartrate spikes during 80m of Burpee Broad Jumps.
